"I can remember Dave coming to my flat in Basildon just before we went to the USA in March 1985 and saying that the Hollywood Palladium had sold out, so the promoter was booking an additional show "at some place called Irvine Meadows", and I couldn't believe it when we got there a few weeks later, a 15,000 capacity outdoor arena."

"The first time [...] we played at Irvine Meadows, it was the the first time they had a band at Irvine Meadows that nobody had heard of. Even in the office they were saying, "Have you got the name right, here? This band "Depeche Mode"? I mean, surely that's not what they're called. Who is it?" I said, "No no, it's this band, don't worry." And they put the tickets on sale [and it] sold out straight away."

According to Rocktourdatabase.com, this gig was also sold out (15,000 people).

Animotion and Book Of Love were the support acts.
