A very good soundboard recording, with FM patches. The silver CD bootleg [http://www.discogs.com/Depeche-Mode-Touring-The-Angel-Almost-Acoustic/release/4383826 Depeche Mode - Touring The Angel Almost Acoustic (Grabbing Hands CID 012)] was used for 2 minutes and 10 seconds at the beginning of "Personal Jesus" as well as for patches at the beginning of each song. Track 14 (the interview) is also sourced from the bootleg. The core of the recording is a soundboard or pre-FM source. It's rather loud with little dynamic range, but all of the FM broadcasts are similarly loud.

Their prior appearance was during their [[:Category:1998 The Singles Tour|1998 The Singles Tour]]: [[1998-12-12 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA, USA]]. This was night 2 of KROQ's event. Depeche Mode were the headline act. Other bands on this night included Coldplay, The White Stripes, Jack Johnson, The Bravery, Death Cab For Cutie, Hot Hot Heat and Nada Surf.

Many tracks were reworked as acoustic versions, so this recording is a must-have. The backing tape crashes during "I Feel You" and it takes a few minutes for the band to restart. This concert also had the first performance of "Shake The Disease" since 1990.

A DVD of what I believe is a webstream of this concert is [http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=395545 available on DIME], but it is quite glitchy and I would not recommend it, honestly. I wish I was able to rip the webstream directly back then.

Chris Martin of Coldplay, who performed before DM, said before their last song 'Fix You', "Please enjoy Depeche Mode and give them the respect they deserve as one of the forefathers of modern times". Comedian Andy Dick was in attendance.
