Depeche Mode ended weeks of fervent speculation on Monday, announcing it was canceling its Thursday night concert at Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park venue. The British band said it was forced to cancel after its technical support team refused to travel to Israel citing security fears. On Sunday, concert promoters assured tens of thousands of ticket holders that the event would take place despite fighting in the north of the country. The announcement was the second such case in the past few weeks after indie rock band Blond Redhead also cancelled their visit to Israel due to regional violence.
