Singer Alison Goldfrapp filmed her scenes on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura, the site of the duo's clips for "Anymore" and "Everything Is Never Enough," and directed Gahan in Madrid in December 2017 during a break in Depeche Mode's ongoing world tour . She has said in a press release: "I had an amazing time directing Dave in the video for the track. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Working with Dave Gahan on the new version of 'Ocean' has been a real honor for us as a band. We're thrilled to finally share this collaboration with the world." She also said on the 2018-07-05 Steve Lamacq show: "He's very gorgeous. I had a slight crush on him after [the videoshoot, actually], because he was so adorable, and he had such a presence."
