Hydrology is the second extended play by Recoil released on 25 January 1988 by Mute Records. The CD and cassette release included the first Recoil EP, 1 + 2, appropriately titled Hydrology Plus 1 + 2. Alan Wilder described the project as "an antidote to Depeche Mode in some ways; a way to alleviate the frustrations of always working within a pop format."[1]
