2001-08-14 Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Allegedly, some keyboard parts are missing on several songs, most notably on the beginning of Walking In My Shoes; Dave was off by a few beats on Dream On and missed some vocals on Personal Jesus.

According to Billboard, together with 2001-08-15 Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA, both shows were sold out, having a total attendance of 29,516 people and a gross of $1,537,788.

Here is the diary entry from DepecheMode.com:

The L.A. show. I didn't know what to expect from the crowd. Over the years, the L.A. crowd, as a whole, doesn't really participate in the show as much as they used to during shows like the World Violation tour. When they're supposed to sing, they merely scream. While it wasn't a stellar crowd, it was definitely better than previous tour - excluding when David finished up "Freelove" (screams, no "woah, just freelove" singing from the crowd). Looking up, and seeing him have this "hmmm...so much for that" type look was rather sad. Martin's performance of "Surrender" was great as always.

I actually got to see as well the reason why I'm taking over for Nichelle (she will be back) for the last dates on the North American tour. It amazes me how many people in L.A. "call in" for their tickets. Los Angeles is a town where people do not buy records - they call their record label rep for a free copy. The same goes for tickets to concerts. I'd be curious to see how many tickets were actually sold, in comparison to how many went to "industry types" scattered throughout the crowd.
