Radio DJ Kelly Temple interviewed Dave Gahan and Andy Fletcher who had just finished the European A Broken Frame tour. Since this was a children's programme that was being broadcast every Sunday, it can be worked out that this took place on December 19th 1982. The audio is very muffled so a few parts are unintelligible.

Speaker 1: Right now though, let me introduce another [unintelligible]. Let me welcome Depeche Mode, to XYZ On Air.

Right.

Dave: What a crowd you've got there.

Hello Dave, hello Andy, how are you, okay?

Dave: Not bad.

Right, well Dave, first of all, you just finished your European tour. Was it successful?

Dave: Yeah, it was very good, yeah.

What kind countries did you visit?

Dave: Mostly Germany, then we went to Belgium, Holland, and Scandinavia as well.

And Andy, you're in the middle of recording something new at the moment, just to come away quickly and just to be with us today. What's happening in the studio?

Andy: Well, we recorded a new single, hopefully that will be out in January, mid-January.

Can I ask you, what sort of Christmas you got lined up? Are you all going to be in London, guys?

Dave: I think we've got just a day off, yeah, that's about it. On Christmas Eve we're doing [TV show] The Tube, too, so right up until then we're pretty busy.

And is there anything in particular - you know that fans of yours are listening to XYZ today - is there anything in particular that you'd like from Santa?

Dave: I don't know, a lot.

You must have some ideas what you'd like.

Dave: I don't know, I don't need a lot of things, I don't mind.

What about you, over there? Can I ask you?
