A very good soundboard recording. This recording is created from three separate sources to yield the most complete, best sounding version possible at this time.
A very good soundboard-quality recording created from a stereo FM broadcast master DAT clone of an analog source and a VHS master tape with mono audio. This version is higher-fidelity and more consistent sounding than the prior rework of the available audio. There are a few transitions between stereo FM audio and mono VHS audio which are a little bit jarring, and there is a short glitch about halfway through The Meaning Of Love when Dave sings "never", but otherwise there aren't any noteworthy flaws.

FM master stereo audio was used for tracks 1, 3, 4, and 5. VHS mono audio was used for track 2, small portions of tracks 4 and 5, and for tracks 6, 7, and 8 in their entirety. 10 seconds of an unknown generation cassette copy of the FM broadcast was used at the beginning of track 1 to complete about 10 seconds missing from the FM master source.

The FM master stereo audio is sourced from an LP mode DAT clone, which is recorded at 32khz and was ripped from the DAT as such to avoid resampling during capture. However, this is sufficient for an FM broadcast recording and particularly for this audio as it does not extend much past 13khz anyway. The DAT audio was resampled to 48khz to match the sample rate of the VHS master audio. This new source of the FM broadcast is very consistent and balanced sounding and is superior quality to the unknown generation cassette recording used in the previous rework. Speed-corrected and normalized, but otherwise unmodified DAT audio can be found in the original 16-bit 32khz format at Source 4.

A VHS master recording of 5 songs plus an interview from the "Countdown" program is available courtesy of TravisBickle1963. The audio is mono, but quite good sounding and consistent quality. The video from the VHS is available as Source 2, and its audio alone as Source 3, respectively.

Many thanks to "subwave collection CH" for acquiring this DAT long ago, to Vince for his assistance with securing the tape, "TravisBickle1963" for the excellent VHS master, and to Fonzie for the unknown generation cassette source.

*Lineage (rework): DAT (16/48) resampled audio combined with VHS (16/48) audio in Audacity 3.3.3: merged See You, ending of Boys Say Go! through the beginning of Leave In Silence, The Meaning Of Love through Just Can't Get Enough, added the interview at end, plus 10 seconds at the beginning of My Secret Garden patched using unknown generation FM broadcast cassette source (lineage detailed below); further normalization -> WAV (16/48) -> FLAC level 8 (16/44) using foobar2000 v2.0, FLAC 1.4.2 64-bit
**Source 1 is said to be an FM broadcast by the tape's original owner, and provided the core of the recording. This source has the best sound by far, but is missing tracks and the right channel has more noise than the left. I chose not to apply any noise reduction to avoid potentially damaging any audio in the process.
*Lineage (DAT - Source 4): FM radio broadcast -> unknown taper and equipment -> master analog source (probably a cassette) -> unknown playback and recording decks -> clone in LP mode to Sony DT-90 DAT -> Sony SDT-9000 SCSI tape drive -> WaveDAT software -> WAV 16/32 -> in Audacity 3.3.3: sped up 3.5%, phase corrected, normalized to -0.1dB and any DC offset removed -> WAV (16/32) -> resampled to 48khz using foobar2000 v2.0 and foobar2000's Resampler (RetroArch) component at "Highest" quality, no dithering -> WAV (16/48)
*Source 2: TV broadcast -> unknown generation -> Maxell XLII 90 high position cassette -> Nakamichi Cassette Deck One with fresh belts & upgraded capstan motor, azimuth optimized, tape wound & rewound before transferring -> Monoprice heavy-duty RCA to 3.5mm cable -> ASUS Xonar DX sound card -> Adobe Audition CC 2014.1 (32-bit / 96 khz)
**DAT transfer: DMLiveWiki on May 27, 2023
**Source 2 is clearly sourced from a TV broadcast given the video pilot tone which I removed. It provided The Meaning Of Love and Just Can't Get Enough. This source sounds very good as well, not quite as clear as Source 1. This one has rather loud hiss in the left channel; again, I chose not to apply any noise reduction.
*Lineage (VHS - Source 3): television broadcast of "Countdown" program (unknown taper and equipment) -> PAL VHS (master) -> playback on Panasonic NV-HS1000 SVHS VCR (S-Video out) -> DataVideo TBC-3000 frame time base corrector -> VirtualDub (Ut lossless video codec / PCM 16/48 audio) -> in Audacity 3.1.2: spectral edit multi-tool to eliminate 15khz ringing noise, normalized to -0.1dB and any DC offset removed -> FLAC (16/48) tracks
*Source 3: PAL Pro-shot DVD -> LCPM 16-bit 48khz audio demuxed using DVD Audio Extractor 7.1.2 -> WAV (16/48) -> using Audacity 2.0.2: notch filter @ 15624 hz, 6.0 Q value, channels independently normalized to -1.0dB and DC offset removed
**VHS transfer: TravisBickle1963
**Source 3 is a PAL DVD of a 5-track + interview TV broadcast, and provided a patch for the ending of Boys Say Go! (which is faded out and talked over on source 1), the entirety of See You (not present on either of the other sources), and the beginning of Leave In Silence (which is badly cross-faded due to broadcast editing on Source 1, and which is missing the first few seconds on the beginning on Source 2). The interview at the end of the recording is also sourced from this DVD. This source has very loud hiss and is lacking in low-end, and I am not very happy using it to be honest - but my other sources including these tracks are even worse sounding, unfortunately. This DVD can be streamed & downloaded here: 1982-12-14 Muziekcentrum Vredenburg, Utrecht, The Netherlands/Source 2.
*Lineage (cassette - used for 10 sec. patch at beginning): FM radio broadcast -> unknown taper and equipment -> unknown generation -> Maxell XLI-S 60 high position cassette -> Nakamichi Cassette Deck One with fresh belts & upgraded capstan motor, azimuth optimized, tape wound & rewound before transferring, deck cleaned before transferring this tape -> Monoprice heavy-duty RCA to 3.5mm cable -> ASUS Xonar DX sound card -> Adobe Audition CC 2014.1 (32-bit / 96 khz); speed correction, automatic phase correction -> FLAC 16-bit 44.1khz using FLAC 1.3.0 64-bit (level 8 compression) and foobar2000 v1.3.6 with its Resampler (SoX) component v0.8.3 (best quality)

*In Adobe Audition CC 2014.1: all sources speed corrected to match the officially released tracks from 1982-10-25 London found on CD singles, automatic phase correction (auto align channels, auto center panning, all settings set to most accurate possible), notch filter applied @ 15,400hz -50dB (very narrow, ultra quiet) on source 2 to remove video pilot tone, sources merged & crossfaded as necessary, manual click removal where required, fade out of concert recording, entire recording normalized to -0.1dB and any DC bias removed -> exported to WAV (32/96) -> tracks split using Audacity 2.0.6 -> WAV (32/96) -> FLAC 16-bit 44.1khz using FLAC 1.3.0 64-bit (level 8 compression) and foobar2000 v1.3.6 with its Resampler (SoX) component v0.8.3 (best quality)

I have placed the tracks in the correct order based on a typical setlist from the A Broken Frame Tour. The interview from the beginning of the DVD has been placed at the end of the recording.

Many thanks to Fonzie (1LFonzie) for providing sources 1 & 2 and Robert (humanracer25) and Vince (discotraxxx) for assisting in having the tapes shipped to me along the way, and to whomever shared the 5 track PAL Pro-shot DVD of Utrecht on DIME, which provided source 3 for this rework.

Notes
