Notes

Although Dave Gahan told Street Magazine in 1989 that D.A. Pennebaker first saw DM live in San Francisco, D.A. Pennebaker told AV Club in 1998:

"We were a little uncertain about the whole project, because they really wanted a big film. So I went to one of their concerts in Oregon, and I was really knocked out by their audience. It came over me that their audience only went to Depeche Mode concerts. They didn't go to any other concerts, so it wasn't like a shared audience or anything. So I was kind of intrigued that they had this strange audience that was kind of like a Druid ceremony, you know, all making mystic signs and whatnot. So we got kind of intrigued by [Depeche Mode] and the possibility of making a film with them, and by the end we had gotten to like them a lot."

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark was the support act.
