Notes
Andy Fletcher said in the commentary track on the DVD of 101 in 2003:
"I think this waving [during 'Never Let Me Down Again'] started in Mountainview. Dave said that the fans just started going it themselves. And he then realised what was happening, and he got them to it more."
In the movie '101', Dave is complaining about his vocal performance after the Wantagh concert, and then says:
"[...] But it's nowhere near as bad as it was in San Francisco, I couldn't even speak then. But tonight I'm gonna have to do me steroids and stuff, puffer, I'm gonna do that tonight again. The stuff that the doctor gave me in San Francisco. You know, like someone who has asthma-attacks uses? But it's steroids, so it straight away hits your vocal cords and peps 'em up."
Although D.A. Pennebaker said in 1998 that he first saw DM live in Portland, Dave told Street Magazine in 1989:
"[The first time] we invited [D.A. Pennebaker] down to hear us was in San Francisco. He couldn't believe the power that was going on between the audience and the band - the energy that was there."
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark was the support act.
