Dave Gahan has been supporting MusiCares (a foundation that supports musicians who have been in some form of crisis) for some years, and in 2007 he was invited to perform two songs in honour of Chris Cornell. In 2011, it was Dave Gahan's turn to be honoured. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith presented the award to Gahan.
