Martin Gore revealed in issue #44 of Bravo Magazine in 1987 (translated from German):
"There was a fight was after a concert in Salt Lake City during our last tour. We walked off stage, and Alan criticised Andy's way of playing. Andy poured a glass of water on him and that started the most beautiful fist fight. The battle was quickly put to an end, though. We went back on stage and played the encore."
Steve Malins asked Wilder for his Depeche Mode biography if it was true if this fight occured because Andy had first criticised Dave's performance, and here is Alan's response:
"Yes, that's true. I thought that was a bit rich coming from him, and a physical brawl did ensue between us. Punches were thrown, some landed, some missed and I heard that a few tears were shed. The worst thing was that we all had to go straight back on stage to play 'Just Can't Get Enough'."
The Blah Brothers and Book Of Love were the support acts.
