James K's ticket stub.

A very good audience recording. Tracks 1 through 7 and tracks 19 and 20 are sourced from a fresh Nakamichi transfer of the master cassette tapes. Tracks 8 through 18 are sourced from a 1st gen cassette copy to CD-R because master tape #2 out of 3 was unfortunately stolen (a well-deserved "screw you" to whoever stole it!). As such, those tracks are not quite as high-fidelity as the tracks sourced from the master tapes, and have more hiss and distortion than they otherwise should. Waiting For The Night and Strangelove fade in due to tape flips.

Better quality versions of Here Is The House and Sweetest Perfection appear as bonus tracks on the Darkest Feelings bootleg. My guess is that they're sourced from another 1st gen cassette copy with a different transfer, then had some equalization and hiss reduction applied. Those tracks have been merged in to the recording and are available in the "Bonus" folder if you so choose to include them in your recording; be sure to include the modified Waiting For The Night for the proper crossfade between the sources as well. To maintain continuity of sound quality, they are provided as bonus tracks instead of being included with the main fileset.

  • Panasonic RX-SR25 stereo portable recorder + Realistic "One Point" Stereo Microphone (33-2012) in "music" mode, connected via stereo "Y" adapter -> 2x Maxell XL II 90 high position cassettes, 1988 - 1989 US stock -> Nakamichi MR-1 professional discrete head cassette deck (playback speed adjusted where required, and playback azimuth optimized) -> Mogami 2534 XLR to TRS cables -> Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen USB audio interface -> WAV (32/88.2) -> recorded in Audacity 3.2.3 using WASAPI input; level adjustments, normalized to -0.1dB and any DC offset removed -> downsampled to WAV (16/44) using foobar2000 v1.6.14, FLAC 1.4.2 64-bit, and foobar2000's Resampler (RetroArch) component at "Highest" quality, dithering enabled -> in Audacity 3.2.3: missing songs added using raw 1st gen CD-R copy source & created bonus tracks using bonus tracks from the "Darkest Feelings" CD bootleg, track splits -> FLAC level 8
