1994-03-16 Open Air Stadium, Hong Kong, British Hong Kong
Notes
Allegedly, Policy Of Truth was re-started after problems with the backing tape.
Here is Daryl Bamonte's entry for the famous Devotional Tour Diary, published in Bong magazine in 1994:
Read all about it! Martin Gore drinks too much peach schnapps and has conversation with broom! I swear it happened. Just ask Alan.
Andy Fletcher said in 2001:
"We once did a gig in Hong Kong. Peter Gabriel played with us - not played with us, played before us - a week before us [March 14th], and he played to basically 80% Europeans. We got a crowd that was three times as big, which was 98% Chinese."
Concert promoter Andrew Bull and his wife told 'That's Shanghai' magazine in April 2011:
Sally Kwok: "I'll give you a funny story about Depeche Mode, when they refused to get on stage and the lead singer would only talk to me in private, one-on-one."
Andrew Bull: "Dave [Gahan] from Depeche Mode decided she was his muse. Basically he had this thing where he didn't like to see any advertising banners from stage. But this was a football stadium where they have annual deals, so I had to pay people to shinny up the stadium and put black drape over the Cathay Pacific hoardings – in total contravention of the contract – as Sally mollified him in the dressing room."
