Here is Daryl Bamonte's entry for the famous Devotional Tour Diary, published in Bong magazine in 1994:

Just when I thought that things could not get any weirder, that we were at a point when nothing would seem odd, then this. Fletcher will not be completing the tour after Hawaii, and the other three want me to stand in for him (?!?). Time for a stiff drink, methinks.

March 20th, MANILA: I had lunch with Fletch today and I feel much better. Reality has sunk in a bit, and Fletch has told me he’s glad it’s me and not “any old session guy”. Phew! That’s the hard part out of the way, I’ve just got to learn to play keyboards now…

Daryl Bamonte recalled again in 2025:

"We were in [the Philippines] and Fletch said that he just didn't want to carry on. He said, "I can't do any more, I want to cancel." And the rest of the band were like, "Well, we don't really want to cancel the last three months." So we got to [Manila] and the band said to me, "Go out to dinner and we'll call you later." So I went out for this lovely Japanese dinner with the backing singers. They were lovely. And I came back and we were walking for the hotel lobby, and I said "I'll get me a drink. I just want to go and check my messages." So I went up to my room, the red [phone] light was flashing and Dave Gahan messaged me,"All right, Daz, we've had the meeting, Fletcher's going home, you're joining the band." And that was it. And I was like "...?" Because I knew that it was a possibility. [...] I got a bit freaked out by it. So I went and sat in the bathroom, sat on the edge of the bath, and I thought, "Okay, I'm going to phone my brother [Perry Bamonte]," because four years earlier he had joined The Cure. I phoned him and of course it was busy."[1]

According to these attendees, actor Roderick Paulate was the announcer. Tropical Depression, a local reggae band, was the support act; information provided by schizo who knows the vocalist of the prior night's support act, Rizal Underground, and was able to confirm the support act for this night.
