1990-08-04 Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles, CA, USA
Notes
The first of two nights at Dodger's Stadium during the World Violation Tour. A very good soundboard recording is available below.
You may view 90 second video snippets of this concert at the depechemode.com archives.
Malibue Sue reported in 2006:
Nitzer Ebb opened the show – personally chosen by Depeche. I ended up saving one of the guy’s necks (can’t remember [if it was Bon or Doug] now!!) as he decided to crawl out the open window of the press box we were watching Depeche from and almost fell to his death! I grabbed him and pulled him back into the window! Gadzooks!
[...] Another fond memory I have, and one of the fondest of my career, was when the band only allowed me to go onstage to intro them at Giants Stadium [in 1990]. The reception I got from my beloved listeners brought tears to my eyes. Looking out over a crowd of about 80,000 was daunting to say the least, and I was very grateful to the band for the opportunity! I was so touched and overwhelmed, I barely choked out “I love you” to the crowd. It was exhilarating.
Electronic was also the support act. Bernard Sumner of Electronic recalled in Uncut magazine, 2001: "I got completely and utterly fucked up [with booze and drugs] on the first night. There was a shower in the dressing room and I just filled it with puke. It was the worst fucking moment of my life."

Sources
- Source 1 is a very good soundboard recording sourced from the "Violator Live" 3xLP bootleg. It is currently the only lossless soundboard recording circulating from the World Violation Tour.
- Source 2 is a mediocre audience recording sourced from a 2xLP bootleg.
- Source 3 would be a decent audience recording if it weren't for the fact that some time during this tape's generation, an incomplete erasure occurred and now you hear most of the basslines from the tracks off "Singles 81 > 85" primarily in the right channel. This one is for hardcore collectors only.
